About, Uniform and Joining
Our Scouts are encouraged to take part in a wide range of activities as part of their programme. Participation rather than meeting set standards is the key approach, and for the Scout who wants to be recognised for his or her achievements there are a number of Challenges awards and activity badges. We very much look forward to welcoming your child to the Group. Please contact us here and we will be in touch shortly. Click here to download our New Member Information Form – please hand to a leader once complete.
Scouts should have a full uniform of a Scout shirt, blue Scout activity trousers, a Scout belt and the group scarf. For the Summer, it is also necessary to have the group T-shirt which can be worn with shorts and the group scarf.
Uniform can be purchased from Lee Joys Outfitters or Smiths in the High Street, Potters Bar (close to the CO-OP.) Alternatively, you can purchase uniform online.
Awards
Challenge Badges
There are 10 challenge badges for you to try and then there is a top award called the Chief Scout’s Gold Award!
Activity Badges
But that’s not all! There are about 70 Activity Badges that you can complete at any time while you are a Scout. These cover everything you could possibly be interested in. From Astronomy to Dragon Boat Racing, Skiing to Mechanic and Handgliding to Air
Spotting.
If you have a hobby, interest or favourite sport there is an Activity Badge that you can work hard for, gain and wear on your uniform with
pride.
