A family camp is where members of the Group can camp accompanied by their parents and brothers and sisters. It will give parents a ‘taste’ of Cub and Scout camping, strengthening links between Beavers, Cubs and Scouts, and introduce parents to the Methods of the Association.
Each family will camp as a family, but cooking, eating, and activities will be organised centrally as a Group.
All adults attending the full camp must have a DBS check (basic criminal record check) approved before the camp. No DBS check is required for those just attending the Bar-B-Que and Live Music on Saturday evening. This is a requirement for all Scout Campsites and any overnight stay with Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. You may already have had a DBS check through your work or for another voluntary organisation. Unfortunately, the Scout Association requires everyone to have a DBS check through the Scouting System. There will be no charge for this check.
You may camp in your own tent as a family, but do not be put off if you do not own a tent, the Group should be able to lend you one.
The campsite is around 100 acres of mainly open grassland with some woodland. The site is about 15 minutes away from Potters Bar.
Numerous activities will be arranged over the weekend- some of the activities available are:- climbing, orienteering, pioneering, rafting, walking, pedal cars, group olympics and a few others.
We have booked a limited number of places at this camp, if you would like to attend ,please complete the registration form on our website or complete the form HERE and return to any Leader together with payment. You can also pay on our website securely by card HERE. Alternatively, Cub parents can pay on OSM.
Further details will follow on receipt of payment.
**We are still accepting registrations for the camp, but please ensure you engage with the DBS check process as soon as possible as it can take a number of weeks to obtain the certificate. If you do not obtain your certificate on time, or it is adverse, you will receive a full refund of your camp fees**
